Who is responsible
M18X publishes Warpad and is the data controller for the Warpad apps and for warpad.app. Send questions and requests to privacy@warpad.app.
What the app keeps on your device
Warpad stores the following only on the device where you use it.
| What | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Console name, network address and model | To find your console and connect to it | App settings |
| Pairing keys issued by your console, and its hardware address | Your console only accepts devices that hold these keys | iPhone, iPad and Mac: the Keychain, for this device only. Android: encrypted with an Android Keystore key. |
| Quality, picture, appearance and layout choices | To remember your settings | App settings |
| Whether you own Warpad Pro or are on a trial | To unlock Pro features | Checked with the App Store or Google Play on your device. On Android, the date your trial started is kept in app storage. |
| Steam (Alpha): your PC’s name, network address and Steam client ID, and its operating system as your PC reports it | To find your PC and connect to it | App settings |
| Steam (Alpha): the pairing key your PC’s Steam accepts for this device | Steam only streams to devices you approved with a PIN | iPhone, iPad and Mac: the Keychain, for this device only |
| Steam (Alpha), if you sign in for your library: a Steam sign‑in token | To list the games installed on your PC | iPhone, iPad and Mac: the Keychain, for this device only |
| Steam (Alpha): your PC’s installed‑game list and cover art | To show your library quickly | App storage (a cache) |
| Per‑game touch layouts and control choices, control setups your PC shares for a game, and each game’s controller‑support category | To set up each game’s controls | App settings |
| Reports from your recent sessions and network checks | To help you find out why a stream stutters | App storage, up to 12 of each |
Your PSN account ID is used once, while pairing, to register your device with the console. Warpad doesn’t store it afterwards.
To fill in that ID, pairing can open Sony’s PlayStation sign‑in page inside the app. You sign in on Sony’s page; Warpad doesn’t read or store your password. When Sony returns you to the app, Warpad asks Sony for your account ID with a short‑lived sign‑in token and then discards the token. Nothing from the sign‑in is saved, and the sign‑in page keeps no cookies after it closes. You can type the ID yourself instead.
What leaves your device
- To your PlayStation. Over your local network, Warpad sends discovery and pairing requests, wake‑up requests on iPhone, iPad and Mac, and your controller and touch input, and receives the console’s video and audio. Sony’s privacy policy covers what your console and PlayStation Network do with that.
- To Steam on your PC (Alpha). Over your local network, Warpad sends discovery and pairing requests, the game you choose to launch, and your controller, touch and keyboard input, and receives video, audio and the game’s Steam Input control setup. Valve’s privacy policy covers what Steam does with that.
- To Valve, for Steam (Alpha). If you sign in for your library, Warpad asks Valve’s Steam service (api.steampowered.com) which games are installed on your PC, using your sign‑in token. Cover art loads from Valve’s image servers (cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com). For each game it shows, Warpad asks Valve’s public store (store.steampowered.com) whether the game supports controllers, at most once a week per game. These requests send the game’s ID, carry no cookies and no account details, and Valve sees your IP address as with any web request.
- To a benchmark peer you choose. The network check sends small timing probes to the address you enter. They carry no personal data.
- Files you share. When you export a session or network report, it goes wherever you send it. Exports never include pairing keys.
- Nothing to us. Warpad doesn’t contact any Warpad server, and contains no analytics, advertising or crash‑reporting software.
Links to other services
If you use Sign in with PlayStation while pairing, your device contacts Sony’s sign‑in service (auth.api.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com and the sign‑in pages it opens). Sony’s privacy policy applies to that sign‑in. Controller help can open Apple’s support website in your browser.
If you sign in to Steam for your library, the app opens Valve’s Steam sign‑in page (store.steampowered.com/login) inside the app. You sign in on Valve’s page; Warpad doesn’t read or store your password. Warpad keeps only the sign‑in token Steam returns, in the Keychain, and you can remove it in the PC’s settings. Valve’s privacy policy applies to that sign‑in. Pairing with your PC doesn’t need a Steam sign‑in.
Purchases
The App Store and Google Play process Warpad purchases. We never see your payment details or your store account. The store confirms a purchase to the app on your device, and Warpad checks that confirmation there without sending it to us or anyone else. We receive the sales and payout reports the stores provide to developers, and use them only for accounting and to handle refunds.
This website
warpad.app is hosted by Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site against abuse, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic request details such as your browser type, as described in Cloudflare’s privacy policy. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
We don’t run analytics on this site. Fonts and images load from warpad.app itself, so no other company learns about your visit. Cloudflare may set a security cookie in rare cases, described on the cookie page.
Backups
On Apple devices, Warpad’s settings and reports can be included in your iCloud or computer backups. Pairing keys are kept for this device only and aren’t restored to a different device. On Android, Warpad opts out of system backups.
Deleting your data
Remove a console or PC in Warpad to delete its pairing keys. For Steam, “Remove library sign‑in” deletes the sign‑in token and the cached game list. Deleting the app removes its settings and reports. iOS can keep Keychain items after an app is deleted, so remove your consoles first if you want the keys gone as well. We hold no personal data about app users, so there is nothing to delete on our side.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the EU General Data Protection Regulation, you can ask what personal data we hold about you and ask us to correct or delete it, restrict or object to its use, or give you a copy. Email privacy@warpad.app. We hold no app data about you, but we answer every request. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes
When this policy changes, we update the date at the top of this page.
